MamaBlogger365 – That’s What I Said by Sarah Dawn Lenox
“Please go clean your room.”
It’s a wonder that you haven’t broken your neck tripping over something in that room of yours. And I’ll be damned if I’m going to be the one to break something stumbling through your room…
“Have fun at the playground!”
Please remember not to jump off the swings mid-air, don’t go head-first down the slide and don’t pick up the broken glass, no matter how pretty it looks glittering in the sun! Don’t talk to strangers, stay away from dogs you don’t know, look both ways before crossing the street, stay with your friends…
“It’s time for bed.”
I am so tired. Please, please, please go to sleep so that I can go to sleep.
“Will you please (set the table, take out the garbage, get the mail, empty the dishwasher — insert chore of choice here)?”
That was actually a rhetorical question.
“Yes, you can walk to a friend’s house.”
Even though I am going to worry about you until you come home, I won’t make you call me when you get there, because it’s right up the road and yes, you are “practically a grown-up.”
“Just try it.”
Are you kidding me? This is not a restaurant and you don’t get to order a special meal because you are sure you don’t like this, even though it’s a vegetable you’ve always loved, just prepared differently this time.
“I love you.”
I really love you, more than you could ever know.
