MamaBlogger365 – You Like Us, You Really Like Us!
Wondering what we’ve been up to lately at the Museum of Motherhood? We’re open now, at 401 East 84th St. (at 1st Ave.), Tuesday through Sunday from 10:45-6:30!
Plus!
‘Mother’ of All Museums by Stefanie Cohen in the NY Post, Sept 15, 2011:
Joy Rose walks through a veil of red, orange and magenta ribbons, demonstrating how it should be done.
“See, this is the birth canal,” she says, as strips of fabric flit over her head. “These ribbons represent the veins and sinews.”
Then she walks into the main room of the museum, closing a red gate tightly behind her.
“It’s like now we’ve been born,” she says.
Welcome to the Museum of Motherhood — right at the intersection of gimme-a-break and sort-of-genuis.

Every Day is Mother’s Day at New Museum by Beth Mellow in Our Town NY, Sept 15, 2011:
“Facing mortality, Joy Rose gave birth to the concept of the Museum of Motherhood. Lupus had shaped her as a mother, having developed it during the delivery of one of her four children. Yet it wasn’t until she received a kidney transplant to treat the illness 11 years ago that she thought about all she still wanted to accomplish.
“Back in 2000, I decided I wanted to live a great life, which meant a life that was greater than myself. I created a vision board and at the pinnacle was the Museum of Motherhood,” she said.

And THIS is why I LOVE what I do! by Jennifer Nevadomski on the NY Metro Mom Social Network, Sept 17, 2011:
“Attending last night’s Gala, walking through the Museum, chatting with so many fantastic moms, I kept thinking how lucky I am to get to do what I do, and I kept thinking of what a wonderful tribute to all mothers this is. I congratulate Joy and company for helping to finally give all mothers a place to celebrate us all!”
