MamaBlogger365 – The Emotional Roller Coaster Called Life by Stacey Battat, Thin Threads

I find many reasons to laugh at myself. Watching a young child step off the school bus and run into her mother’s arms, I have felt joy and began to cry with such depth, that I am forced to stop taking myself so seriously and break into complete and abandoned laughter.

I believe that what we experience ultimately happens to us because we are open to the love available in the moment. And I believe that the expression of our emotions is what keeps us happy, and that our children learn the most from our exposed moments of vulnerability and humanity.

We should all seek moments like the one described in this excerpt from ALEPH, by Paulo Coelho, the same accessible, spiritual author of the famous best-seller, “The Alchemist” : “For several long seconds, nothing existed, there was no room, no audience, nothing…. all that remained was the joy of living, expressed in silence and emotion. Words are tears that have been written down. Tears are words that need to be shed. Without them, joy loses all its brilliance and sadness has no end. Thank you, then, for your tears.”

As moms, friends, sisters, daughters, lovers, partners, we are all offered moments to live in the present. I feel blessed every time I experience these moments, and I often remind myself that even though it is difficult to hold onto these fleeting moments, it is fully within my power to fully feel them as they occur.

Most of these moments change us, some in powerful ways in our lives. Thin Thread stories ( are stories are all about these changes, and we are still running our special for the Thin Threads of Moms & Grandmas book for Mother’s Day. Wishing you all ‘roller coaster’ moments! Write to me and we can exchange our own words of emotion!!
