MamaBlogger365 – Keeping and Sharing by Jennifer Flaten
At the end of the month, we are moving. So, the past couple of weeks have involved many boxes. The kids and I are enjoying (okay, enjoying might be too strong a word) going through our cache of books to decide which to keep and which to give away.
I don’t know who is more sentimental, them or me. Every book we pull out of their overflowing book basket (a repurposed laundry basket) elicits cries of “I remember that book.”
The kids don’t want to give any books away and personally, I can’t imagine giving away our battered copy of Sheep in a Jeep (along with many others). We read that book so many times that it sparked a family game similar to Slug Bug but involving jeeps.
Both of us want to keep all their books. Unfortunately, that just isn’t practical. We really don’t need to have There’s A Wocket in my Pocket by Dr. Seuss anymore. I think it would be best to pass that book along – with many of our other favorites – to another family so they can experience the wonderful times like we’ve had cuddling together reading books.
